Cat World does not require an account and does not sell personal data. We use Google Analytics to understand site usage, but it loads only after you accept cookies. Advertising slots on the site are non-personalised placeholders. You can change your consent choice at any time on the Cookies & GDPR page.
Who we are
Cat World ("we", "us") is an independent educational website about cats. You can reach us at hello@catworld.example for any privacy request.
What data we collect
- Analytics data (consent-based): if you accept cookies, Google Analytics collects anonymised usage data — pages viewed, approximate region, device type, and referral source.
- Consent preference: your accept/decline choice is stored in your browser's local storage so we do not ask again. This never leaves your device.
- Messages you send: if you email us or use the contact form, we receive the contents of that email.
We do not collect names, run user accounts, or store form submissions on a server — the site has no backend database.
Cookies and analytics
Non-essential cookies and the Google Analytics script load only after explicit consent via our cookie banner. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set. Full details are on the Cookies & GDPR page.
Advertising
Ad slots shown on the site are clearly-labelled placeholders and are not currently served by a live ad network. If programmatic advertising (such as Google AdSense) is enabled in future, it will also be gated behind your cookie consent and described here before launch.
Third-party services
Some pages load content from third parties, each with their own privacy policy:
- The Cat API and Cataas — cat photographs on the gallery and breed pages.
- Wikimedia Commons — images on blog and toy pages.
- YouTube (Google) — embedded videos; YouTube may set cookies when you play a video.
- Google Fonts — web fonts used for typography.
- Google Analytics — usage measurement, consent-gated.
Your GDPR rights
If you are in the UK or EU, you have the right to access, correct, or erase your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. Because we hold almost no personal data, most requests relate to emails you have sent us. To exercise any right, email hello@catworld.example.
Children
Cat World is suitable for all ages but is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

We may update this policy as the site evolves. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
